The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) is embroiled in controversy due to the election of Sanjay Singh as its president. Sanjay Singh is a close aide to Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who has been accused of sexual harassment.

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) had previously suspended the WFI in response to these allegations However, they recently dissolved the ad-hoc committee that was provisionally governing the sport . This decision effectively hands control of the WFI back to Sanjay Singh, a development that has been met with opposition from prominent Indian wrestlers like Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat.

It remains to be seen how this leadership change will affect the Olympic qualification process for Indian wrestlers.
